A Federal Capital Territory High Court has ordered the arrest of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, and Permanent Secretary Bashir Nura Alkali over alleged fraud.

Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie issued a bench warrant after the defendants failed to appear in court.

They are facing a 21-count charge involving alleged diversion of $1.3 million and N746.6 million.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the defendants repeatedly ignored court appearances.

The case was adjourned to May 18, 2026.
