Former chairman, Kajuru Local Government, Kaduna State,  Ibrahim Gajere, has been declared missing following an attack on a convoy returning from a burial ceremony in Dogon Noma, Maro Ward.

The incident occurred on Monday, February 16, 2026, when gunmen ambushed the convoy along a rural road linking communities in Kajuru.

Sources who spoke in confidence revealed that during the attack, several vehicles were set ablaze, including the official vehicle of the current Executive Chairman of the council and at least three other cars.

Although no official casualty figures have been confirmed from the convoy, family members and community sources said  Gajere and some other passengers had not been accounted for as of Tuesday.

As a result, the affected family fear that their loved ones may have been abducted by the attackers.

The convoy was returning from the burial of the biological father of a senior local government official when it was attacked.

On the same day, another nearby community in Kajuru LG was reportedly attacked by suspected gunmen, leaving two residents dead.

Security agencies  have launched a search operation in surrounding forests and rural settlements to locate the missing former council chairman and others.

Residents and local leaders have called on the state government to intensify security patrols in Kajuru and neighbouring areas, citing persistent threats along rural routes.
