Former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Ehigiator Arase will be buried on October 3, 2025, the police have said.
This is contained in a burial announcement shared on Wednesday.
Arase died aged 69 on August 31, 2025.
The announcement reads, “The Nigeria Police Force announces the Burial Arrangements of Former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Ehigiator Arase (Rtd), CFR, PhD, NPM, fdc, FCIArb.
“Late IGP Arase, who passed onto Glory on August 31st 2025, was the 18th Indigenous Inspector-General of Police.
“He served the Force and the Nation with Dedication and Honor.

“He will be remembered for his Exemplary and Innovative Leadership, Philanthropy and Commitment to Police Reforms.”
According to the statement, burial rites will hold in Abuja and Edo State.
A Day of Tribute will hold on Wednesday, September 24, Requiem Mass on Friday, September 26, and Lying in State on Saturday, September 27, all in Abuja.
On September 29, a Procession/Candle Light will hold in Ora, Edo State.
On Thursday, October 2, a Vigil Mass and Family Rites/Lying in State will hold in Benin City, Edo State.
A Funeral Mass and Private Interment will hold on Friday, October 3, followed by a Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, October 5.
