Former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Mr. Anthony Adeosun, who passed away on Tuesday in Lagos at the age of 62.

The announcement was made in a statement signed  by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family on Thursday.

Describing the late Anthony Adeosun as a distinguished businessman and devoted Christian, the family said he lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, hard work and unwavering faith.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Tuesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

According to the family, the deceased was deeply committed to serving God and devoted to his family and community throughout his lifetime.

“Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.

The late Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Minister of Finance and founder of DashMe Foundation, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, his children, siblings, including the Founder of Kuramo Capital, Mr. Adewale (Wale) Adeosun, as well as several other family members, friends and associates.

While expressing gratitude to those who had reached out with prayers and condolences, the family appealed for privacy as it mourns the loss.

“Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the assurance of God’s Word: ‘Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them’ (Revelation 14:13),” the statement said.

The family added that details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.

It also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, saying, “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord.”
