The ousted chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State, Alphonsus Eba, has been accused of betrayal.
Prince Michael Abuo, the Director General, Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON) disclosed this in an open letter titled, ‘Defending Integrity: Rebutting Alphonsus Eba’s Disloyal Assault Against Governor Bassey Otu and Cross River State.’
Prince Abuo said: “The recent actions of Alphonsus Eba, the impeached and sacked former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, stand as a stark betrayal.
“His utterances, laced with aspersions against the Governor and his Chief of Staff, not only reek of personal vendetta but also constitute an act of profound disloyalty to the party, the administration and by extension, the people of Cross River State.
“Eba’s claims that he cleared and made Prince Otu the governor are not merely misguided, they are an affront to the democratic will of Cross Riverians, who elected Otu in 2023,” he said.
He also outlined the achievements of the governor within the last two years, saying the governor’s achievements were evidence of Otu’s qualifications and preparedness to serve his people.

He stressed that public accusations by the ousted chairman against the governor and his chief of staff undermined APC’s unity and the Governor’s mandate to lead.
He maintained that Eba was the architect of his issues as actions have consequences and advised him to “wake up, stop the wailing and face reality.”
Ward and chapter executives of the APC in the state had accused Eba of a number of issues, including withholding their salaries and demanded his resignation.
This culminated in his removal by 30 out of 32 members of the State Executive Council of the Cross River APC.
The national leadership of the party ratified Eba’s ouster as state chairman but he cried foul, insisting that due process was not followed in removing him.
He proceeded to the High Court of the FCT, Abuja, to prevent the defendants from giving effect to the resolution to oust him.
