Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has chosen Lionel Messi, the Inter Miami captain, as the best player of all time.
According to the Spanish international, everyone respects Messi for his accomplishments in the sport.
Yamal spoke after winning the Best Young Athlete title at the 2026 Laureus Awards gala in Madrid on Monday.

“Leo Messi is the best football player of all time. If he’s not the best athlete of all time, he’s certainly among them,” Yamal said as quoted by Barça Universal.
“Everyone respects him for what he’s achieved, and I hope I can follow in his footsteps.”
Messi is the most decorated footballer, having won over 45 trophies in his career, including the World Cup.
At the age of 38, Messi is at the end of a distinguished career, and the Argentina forward is expected to play his last World Cup tournament in the summer.
