England winger Bukayo Saka has stated that switching him from the right flank to left back will not help the squad fix its problems.

Saka started all three group games at Euro 2024 on the right side of midfield So far, the Arsenal star has assisted Jude Bellingham in the opening 1-0 win over Serbia.

Saka’s goal in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Slovenia was called off because Phil Foden stepped offside during the buildup.

England has failed to impress so far despite reaching the last-16 as Group C winners, and there is a growing call for Chelsea’s Cole Palmer to start following his brilliant cameo in Cologne.

The clamor for Palmer to start has prompted Southgate to consider playing Saka at left-back, a position he previously held at Arsenal.

However, Saka told BBC 5 Live, “Putting me out of position” at left back is not the solution for England.”

He added, “It’s in Gareth’s hands and we all have to trust what he selects on the day.”
