The excitement for all football lovers across the globe is palpable as the UEFA Euro 2024 kicks off today with the host country, Germany taking on Scotland in the lone game to be played on Friday by 8 pm.

As Germany seeks to restore the glory of its European Championship titles in 1972, 1980, and 1996, having competed in every EURO since 1972, Scotland’s goals are more modest. Scotland has not only failed to win any of the EUROs but has never progressed beyond the group stage on nine occasions.

However, Scotland’s path to Euro 2024 has been distinguished by determination and resurgence.

Under manager Steve Clarke’s leadership, the squad has made amazing progress, combining seasoned players like Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay, and Che Adams with young stars like Billy Gilmour, Aaron Hickey, and others.

Andy Robertson, the captain, revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that the club is hoping to make history. “Our goal is to be the squad that produces history. We look at the group; it’s difficult and competitive.

“But we believe we can give any team a game, and if we accomplish that and advance from the group stage, we will be the first Scotland squad to do it,” he said.

It should be noted that all 51 EURO 2024 matches are set to be broadcast live on GOtvand DStv. On GOtv channel 61 will show the fixtures and DStv channels 222 and 225 respectively will also broadcast the matches.
