The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) will graduate 7,991 students during its 21st convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2025.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Alloysius Okolie, announced this during a press briefing at the Peter Mbah Auditorium on Monday.
He said the convocation covers graduands of the 2023/2024 academic session across the institution’s thirteen faculties and includes first-degree, postgraduate diploma, master’s, PhD and other doctorate awardees.
Prof. Okolie revealed that 14 students made first class, 1,646 earned second-class upper, 4,619 obtained second-class lower, 113 graduated with third class, while 233 fell within the pass category, including those in professional programmes in medicine, surgery and pharmacy.
“Distinguished gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to state that Management has continued to keep fate with her resolve to make Convocation an annual event. We successfully held convocations in 2022, 2023 and 2024 respectively,” he said.
He announced that the convocation lecture will be delivered on Friday, November 21, by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, on the topic ‘Legislative leadership and the future of democratic governance in Nigeria’.

“Management, Staff and Students remain eternally grateful to the Hon Speaker for accepting to deliver the lecture despite his crowded schedule,” he added.
Prof. Okolie confirmed that the conferment of first, postgraduate and honorary degrees will hold on Saturday, November 22.
“As indicated above, a total of 7,991 graduands comprising of First Degree, 6,625; Postgraduate Diploma, 212; Masters’ Degree, 720; Ph.D, 434 and Doctorate awardees have been found worthy of this ceremony,” he said.
He also announced that three distinguished Nigerians will receive honorary doctorate degrees during the convocation.
“As part of the tradition, the Visitor, Council and Senate have approved award of Honorary Doctoral Degrees (Honoris Causa) to three distinguished national and global personalities who have recorded remarkable achievements in the transmutation of the Country,” he said.
The honourees are: Rt. Hon. Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, to receive an Honorary Doctorate Award for Legislative Practice; Chief Dr. Paulinus Ozonnagbo, CEO of Polystar Electronics, for Business Administration; and Senator Osita Ngwu, Senate Minority Whip, for Governance and Public Policy.
Prof. Okolie commended Governor Peter Mbah for his continued support, noting that the state government has approved N1.4 billion for the perimeter fencing of the university.
