Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 victory over Chelsea in their Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead in the 77th minute after Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders inadvertently punched the ball into his own net while attempting to deal with a Tottenham corner.
Chelsea’s hopes of recovering from the setback suffered another blow when midfielder Cole Palmer was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 80th minute, leaving the hosts with 10 men.
Tottenham capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Mathys Tel doubling the lead in the 88th minute after an impressive individual effort that ended with a long-range finish.
The result handed Tottenham a significant victory over their London rivals, while Chelsea were left to rue their defensive error and Palmer’s dismissal.
The encounter had remained goalless for much of the game, with both sides creating opportunities before Tottenham found the breakthrough late in the second half.
The victory gives Tottenham bragging rights in the London derby, while Chelsea will look to bounce back in their next Premier League fixture.
