Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, with a new proposal expected to be submitted in the coming days.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development on his Facebook page, stating that United have stepped up their efforts to reach an agreement with Brighton for the Cameroon international.
According to Romano, Manchester United’s initial proposal, worth €75 million as a package, was rejected by Brighton, but negotiations are still ongoing.
He wrote: “BREAKING: MAN UNITED ARE SET TO SIGN CARLOS BALEBA — HERE WE GO COMING SOON!
“Official proposal sent to Brighton this morning over €75m as package rejected but deal underway, as per David Ornstein.

Romano added that Manchester United are preparing an improved offer in an attempt to finalise the deal within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Baleba has emerged as one of Brighton’s most highly-rated midfielders, and United’s pursuit of the 22-year-old is understood to be part of their plans to strengthen the midfield ahead of the new season.
If an agreement is reached, Baleba would become the latest major addition to United’s squad.
