Manchester United have put pieces of the historic Old Trafford pitch on sale for £125 each as the club continues to grapple with debt exceeding £1bn.
The 7x7cm sections of turf have been preserved inside glass cubes and placed in black presentation cases for supporters who want to own a piece of the stadium’s history. The first batch has already sold out.
The unusual memorabilia sale comes as United reported record revenue of £677.6m for the 2025/26 financial year, alongside an operating profit of £22.6m.
Despite the record revenue, the club recorded a £43m pre-tax loss, while its overall debt remained above £1bn.
United also revealed that they had spent £63.5m acquiring land for a proposed new stadium, with the planned development expected to cost more than £2bn.
The Old Trafford pitch was removed this summer for the first time in 14 years and stripped back to its foundation, prompting the club to preserve sections as memorabilia for supporters.
United described the glass-cased turf as a “priceless memento” of iconic matches played at Old Trafford and a way for fans to retain memories of matchdays.
The stadium has been United’s home since 1910 and has hosted generations of players and some of the club’s most significant matches.
The turf sale gives supporters an opportunity to own a physical piece of Old Trafford at a time when the club is simultaneously preparing for a major stadium project while reporting another annual loss.
