Manchester City have signed Argentina goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli from Marseille.
The 34-year-old has joined the Premier League champions on a two-year deal.
Rulli is expected to serve as City’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The move also marks his return to Manchester City after nine years.
He previously spent the 2016/17 season at the Etihad Stadium.
However, he did not make a first-team appearance during that spell.
“This is an amazing opportunity for me and one I had to grasp,” Rulli said.
“When the chance to join Manchester City comes along you have to go for it.
“Everyone knows what an impressive club this is.
“City’s success over a long time has been impressive. Everyone I have spoken to about City said I had to join them because they are a club with incredibly high standards.
“My job now is to train hard, get to know the players and staff and do everything I can to reach my best level.”
Rulli has won eight caps for Argentina and was part of their 2022 World Cup-winning squad.
He also featured in Argentina’s 2024 Copa America triumph and last month’s World Cup final where Argentina lost that final to Spain.
The goalkeeper previously played for Real Sociedad, Villarreal, Montpellier and Ajax.
Rulli also has a memorable connection with Manchester United.
He scored a penalty in Villarreal’s 2021 Europa League final victory over United.
He then saved David de Gea’s penalty as Villarreal won the shootout 11-10.
His move comes as Marseille seek to raise funds through player sales.
The French club was fined €10m for failing to meet UEFA break-even targets.
Marseille also missed out on Champions League football after finishing fifth in Ligue 1 last season.
The club recently sold Argentine defender Facundo Medina to Bayer Leverkusen.
It had earlier parted ways with Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
