Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has dismissed growing speculation that he is preparing to leave the club at the end of the season, insisting he remains fully committed despite widespread reports linking him with an exit.

Reports had suggested that Manchester City were making internal preparations for Guardiola’s departure following their Premier League clash against Aston Villa, with former assistant coach Enzo Maresca mentioned as a possible successor.

However, Guardiola moved to shut down the rumours during his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s trip to Bournemouth.

He said:

“So many times, I have one more year.”

The Spaniard, who still has a year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, also rejected suggestions that recent matches could be part of a farewell tour.

“I am here, I have a contract,” he said.

Guardiola further dismissed claims that the club could honour him by naming a stadium stand after him if he eventually leaves this summer.

“No, no, no, no, no, no, I have no idea about that,” he said.

“They don’t have to do anything, honestly.”

Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has transformed the club into one of the dominant forces in world football, winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League.

Despite ongoing speculation about his future, the City boss could still end the season with more silverware as the club continues its push for domestic honour.
