Nigeria’s Enyimba FC suffered a significant blow to their CAF Confederation Cup campaign after a 3-0 defeat to Mozambique’s Black Bull on Sunday, further dimming their chances of advancing to the knockout stage. The loss came against a team widely considered the weakest in Group D.
The defeat leaves Enyimba winless in their group-stage run so far, with two losses and one draw at home from three matches.
Enyimba struggled from the start, conceding an early goal in the 15th minute to Nigerian-born Rume Akporoh. The situation worsened in the second half, with Fidel De Sousa doubling Black Bull’s lead in the 57th minute. Just seven minutes later, another Nigerian-born player, Francis Ayuba Abubakar, sealed the rout with a third goal in the 64th minute.
Enyimba now faces an uphill task to progress, with their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
