Major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu West Senatorial Zone have declared their full support for Governor Peter Mbah following his reported move to the ruling party, describing it as a step that would reposition Enugu State in the national political mainstream.

The stakeholders made this known in a communiqué issued after their meeting held in Enugu.

The communiqué was read by a chieftain of the party and 2023 House of Assembly candidate for Udi North, Godwin Onwusi.

In the document signed by thirteen party leaders, including Prof. Nick Ezeh, the APC senatorial candidate for Enugu West in the 2023 elections and leader of the group, the stakeholders pledged loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and expressed commitment to his Renewed Hope Agenda.

They also vowed to work towards ensuring the President’s re-election in 2027.

“We, the major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu West Senatorial Zone, reaffirm our unflinching support and loyalty to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration,” the communiqué stated.

The group praised Governor Mbah’s decision to align with the APC, describing him as a “positively transformative leader” whose declaration for the party would bring Enugu State closer to the centre of power.

“We express our wholehearted support for the declaration for the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the positively transformative Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

“We urge all members of the APC to support this move as it will take Enugu State to the national grid of power and the mainstream of Nigerian politics.”

The stakeholders further commended the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC for dissolving the previous state executive led by Ugochukwu Agballa, which they described as “cantankerous and divisive.”

They said the action had “re-injected a new lease of life into the party,” and restored unity among members who were previously suspended, expelled, or sidelined.

“We commend the National Working Committee of our great party for dissolving the cantankerous and divisive Enugu State Executive led by Ugochukwu Agballa. With that decision, our party has regained its focus, and those who were unjustly excluded have now returned to rebuild a stronger APC in Enugu State,” the communiqué added.

They also applauded the appointment of Dr. Ben Nwoye as Chairman and Eugene Odoh as Secretary of the newly constituted caretaker committee, describing both as competent leaders with the capacity to steer the party in the right direction.

The stakeholders congratulated other members of the caretaker committee, including Fidelia Njeze, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, Dr. Oby Ajih, Obinna Ekeh, and Peter Chime, and pledged total loyalty and support for their leadership.

They called on all members of the APC in Enugu State to unite behind the caretaker committee in the collective effort to rebuild and strengthen the party.
