Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company, Chief Jerry Onuokaibe, and his counterpart at Artistry Fort Limited Company, Chief Chidera Eze, popularly known as Ubiego 1 of Enugu State, have called on Enugu youths to support Governor Peter Mbah’s bid for re-election in 2027.
They made the call on Saturday at the Enugu Skill Fest 2026, organised by the Youth Awakening and Development Initiative (YADI) at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
Onuokaibe urged youths to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Mbah administration to develop their skills, create jobs and improve their livelihoods.
He said the administration had demonstrated commitment to youth development through programmes and policies designed to equip young people with practical, digital and entrepreneurial skills.
He listed the initiatives to include the Mbah Youth Technical Empowerment Programme (MYTEP), Enugu Youth Enterprise Launchpad (EYEL), digital skills and innovation programmes through the Enugu SME Centre, Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Programme, skills acquisition programmes, Science, Technical and Vocational Education (STV/TVET), entrepreneurship and agro-enterprise initiatives, as well as software development and coding programmes.
“This is why Enugu youths must be part of this advancement so as to be creators of jobs and not seekers, as 21st-century talents require massive mentorship and learning,” he said.
Onuokaibe also commended Mbah for his infrastructural development, particularly road construction in his community.
“It is the first time since the existence of the community that a government is constructing its roads,” he said.
He urged the youths to support Mbah’s re-election, describing him as “the best man for the job”.
Similarly, Ubiego said Enugu youths were creative and industrious but needed sustained training and mentorship to maximise their potential.
He said his background had not limited his growth, attributing his progress to consistency and commitment to his vision.
Ubiego also praised Mbah’s vision for the state, particularly his focus on youths, describing its potential benefits as “multigenerational”.
He pledged to mobilise support for Mbah’s re-election, while promising to employ some trainees from the skill fest in his company.
“I am committed to supporting the organisers by creating employment opportunities for some of their trainees in my company, because practical experience and employment are essential to sustainable youth development,” he said.
He added: “The future of Enugu belongs to young people who are ready to learn, develop their talents, embrace mentorship and turn opportunities into meaningful enterprises.”
In his remarks, YADI Executive Director, Comrade Timothy Nnamani, said the organisation was focused on skills development, entrepreneurship, leadership development and youth empowerment.
He said the skill fest was part of YADI’s efforts to help skilled and innovative youths in the state advance their careers and contribute to economic development.
