The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man, Musa Zuberu, over alleged drug peddling and recovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be illicit drugs from him.
The arrest was made on February 11, at about 1:40pm, by operatives attached to the Crack Tactical Squad during a routine patrol, along Camp 1, Iva Valley, Enugu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the operatives searched the suspect and recovered what he described as a large quantity of weed suspected to be marijuana, including synthetic variants, popularly known as “Canadian Loud” and “Colorado” (“Colos”), alongside other suspected illicit substances.

Ndukwe stated: “The Enugu State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has sustained its fight against illicit drugs and substance peddling with the arrest of one Musa Zuberu and the recovery of a large quantity of weed suspected to be marijuana from him.
“The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad during a routine patrol, along Camp 1, Iva Valley. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of suspected marijuana, including the synthetic ‘Canadian Loud’ and ‘Colorado’ variants, as well as other quantities of suspected illicit drugs.”
He added that investigations were ongoing to track down other members of the suspected network and dismantle drug peddling operations in the state.
The police spokesperson recalled that the command had recently carried out similar operations, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including a dispatch rider, and the recovery of substances such as tramadol, methamphetamine, locally known as “Mkpuru-mmiri”, and other suspected marijuana variants.
