Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen motorcycle along with three locally fabricated guns.
The suspects, Chime Chidiebere (25) and Alior Kenechukwu (30), were apprehended on 6 February 2025 by officers of the 9th Mile Division following credible intelligence.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, stated that efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspects’ accomplices, who are still at large.
He said: “Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, serving at the 9th Mile Division, have arrested two male suspects, Chime Valentine Chidiebere (aged 25) and Alior Jideofor Kenechukwu (aged 30), for alleged armed robbery.
“The operatives, on 6 February 2025, acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspects, recovering a Daylong motorcycle they had snatched from their victim, three locally fabricated guns, and two live cartridges.”
A preliminary investigation revealed that on 5 January 2025, the suspects boarded a commercial motorcycle from Okwojo Ngwo to Amokwe Ngwo in Udi LGA. Along the way, they stopped, shot the rider in the left thigh, and fled with the motorcycle.
“However, the police operatives, leveraging intelligence, located and arrested the suspects, recovering the stolen motorcycle, firearms, and ammunition. The victim is currently recuperating from the gunshot injury.
“Further investigative actions are ongoing to arrest the suspects’ accomplices who are still at large, and upon conclusion of investigations, they will be arraigned in court,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, urged residents to remain law-abiding and support the police.
He emphasised that the support will immensely aid the police to sustain the tempo in combating and ridding Enugu State of unrepentant criminals and their activities.
