Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, Mamman Giwa, has charged officers to apply professionalism and community policing in performing their duties. He spoke at a conference with the command’s management team, Area Commanders, Divisional police Officers (DPOs) heads of tactical team squad, sections of the command and other senior officers.

He emphasised the importance of professionalism and emotional intelligence in performing their duties.

He warned the officers against engaging in extortion and other corrupt citizens, noting that anyone found guilty would be held accountable.

He instructed the officers to ensure professional and proactive crime prevention within their respective areas of responsibility: “Security lapses in any part of the state will not be tolerated. Officers should redouble their efforts and be more practical and forward looking in their policing activities.”

Giwa recently assumed duty as the 29th Commissioner of Police, Enugu State.
