The Department of State Services (DSS), yesterday, paraded the kidnappers of members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Inoyi-Affa, Udi LGA, on August 2, 2026  before newsmen at the state headquarters of the DSS, following their arrest.

Three of the suspects were paraded, while another was killed during a gun battle with joint security forces.

Addressing newsmen, the SSG, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, disclosed that the kidnap victims had regained their freedom, while the marked ransom money used as bait during the rescue operation was fully recovered.

The victims had earlier identified the arrested suspects as their abductors. Governor Peter Mbah’s heavy investment in Command and Control security architecture, surveillance cameras, drones, and other advanced tech devices has demonstrated why Enugu is becoming increasingly inhospitable to criminals.

As the SSG stated, quoting Governor Mbah, “Enugu has the capacity to nip security breaches in the bud. But where they occur, the perpetrators may flee, but will be pursued relentlessly and brought to book”.
