Ben Nwoye, Enugu APC chairman, escapes assassination

The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Danmallam, has directed that security be beefed up around the party chairman and his family members.

Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, yesterday, narrowly escaped death following the invasion of his Independence Layout, Enugu, residence by suspected hired assassins.

Sunday Sun gathered that the hoodlums numbering over four stormed his home about 2:30 a.m. and shot one of the police personnel attached to him. It was further gathered that a heavy gun battle ensued between the suspected assassins and one of the brave police officers. A cop identified as Gerald Eke reportedly sustained severe injuries from gunshots and was rushed to the Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu, where he was placed on intensive care. The spokesman of the State’s Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident, saying they were already investigating it.

It was further gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Danmallam, has also directed that security be beefed up around the party chairman and his family members.
