The Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Enugu State, Rev. Emmanuel Edeh has called on Nigerians especially the youths to use the 2023 general election to end recycling of old politicians in power.
Speaking yesterday when he received the executive members of The Professional Christian Youth Leaders Forum (TPCYF) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Enugu, the CAN chairman charged Nigerian youths to reject recycling of old men and women in political offices in Nigeria as it has brought retardation.
The cleric stressed that the emergence of youths in the leadership of Nigeria was very possible now even with the 2023 general election.
Urging the old politicians to retire and give way for younger ones he said, “When you have your father watching you do a stuff, he should be able to do the assessment and say my son, I think you are getting it right this way, you need to do adjustment the other way, and not your father telling you to sit down. You’re seated in the morning, you’re seated in the noon and you’re seated in the evening. He wants you to get seated all day long, could it be until you would not even like to attend his burial, for goodness sake?
“It is provided that parents can have their children guided to provide leadership. And not every time we’re recycling and recycling and recycling and just want to be there even when death is knocking at their door, they say no. All these are not acceptable because these acts and behaviours are not healthy for our country.”
Giving the group his blessing, the State CAN leader charged them to remain resolute, focused, and faithful, ensuring that the group is distinct and peculiar.
Earlier, the Coordinator of TPCYF, Dr Ejim had told the CAN Chairman that the Forum was aimed at re-educating Christian youths on many things, including politics and allow them make choices and also bring things to them, like scholarship, innovative environment and political voice.
