Akwa State Commissioner for Information Hon Anìekan Umanah has said that the state governor pastor Umo Eno has signed electricity law and planed to hold power summit to address perennial electricity supply problems and tariff reduction which will help residents to afford cost of electricity in the state.

The Commissioner also lauded the governor for constructing over 771 km of roads with 32 bridges in the state within two years.

Speaking during a live radio programme on Comfort Fm, Uyo at the weekend , Umanah said the first Akwa Ibom State Electricity Summit will chart a roadmap for reliable and affordable electricity access for citizens of the state and
create strong state-level regulatory institutions.

According to the Commissioner, the Summit will unlock new private sector/ government partnerships for sustainable investments adding that it will bring together leaders from Federal and State Governments, investors, and development partners.

” The Power Summit billed to hold from September 18-19 2025 will not just be a talk-shop.

” We’re bringing in egg-heads of the Power Sector and with the signing of the Electricity Bill, electricity availability and affordability for the citizens of Akwa Ibom State is a major concern of Governor Eno”

Umanah further disclosed that the state government was determined to interprete the Infrastructural aspirations of the ARISE Agenda as the state has constructed over 771 kilometers of roads and 32 bridges across the state in just two years, taking the lead in road construction in Nigeria.

He said a recent survey data has positioned Akwa Ibom as the state with the most roads constructed in the whole country in 2025.

” Our tourism potentials are visible. The ARISE Resort opening in December is a masterclass; a sight to behold. With the Ibom Hotels and Conference Centre also in the pipeline, Akwa Ibom will be a destination of choice for holiday-makers.

” This year’s Christmas Unplugged will be very unique. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag for new”, he intimated.”
