Akwa Ibom state governor pastor Umo Eno has established Arise Shopping City in Uyo as one of the facilities to boost tourism sector in the state .
Eno during the tour of projects sites in the state disclosed that the Arise Shopping City will expand income base and assured that all tourism assets in the state would be effectively utilized
He disclosed that the shopping city will attract shoppers and tourists from across the country, as well as other lovers of international name brands who will be visiting the facilities within the Tropicana Complex.
“When you have an international convention center, a 200-bed hotel, and other facilities that will attract people to come here, you need a shopping city where you host international brands.
“You know we Nigerians like to shop a lot. So instead of going to all those places where tickets are now expensive, you can simply come here and get those same quality name brands.
“You can do a vacation here. Our roads are the best in the country, and our people are peaceful”.
Eno observed that the state is blessed by God and also blessed with past administrations who laid foundation of development in all sectors including tourism

“State funds have been sunk into this project, and we cannot abandon it.
“Already, there have been encroachments, and that is why I’ve come here and revoked every title that is different from what is obtainable in the original master plan.
“We have all the infrastructure to become the best tourism destination in our country”.
Eno assured Akwa people that tourism facilities will be revived in line with the state tourism master plan
“All around the State, whether it is here in Uyo, Ikot Abasi, Oron, Itu, everywhere, we are reviving our tourism assets — whether in culture or aviation — and we have put them together in our tourism master plan.”
He warned youths to eschew violence and other vices capable of breaching the peace of the State.
“I want our youths to embrace peace and desist from being used by any person to breach the peace in the State.
“I will not allow anyone, no matter how highly placed, to disrupt the peace and harmony of our State”
