Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr and his England counterpart, Gareth Southgate are on cloud nine over the June 2 international friendly involving Nigeria and England.
The match to be decided at the famous Wembley Stadium would be the last tune up game for both countries before the Russia 2018 World Cup campaign.
The NFF yesterday confirmed the high profile friendly declaring it a done deal.
Rohr told the nff.com official website:“This is good news for myself and the entire team. England is a very strong team presently and I believe they will give us a very good match. We will be able to test our readiness for the World Cup when we meet the Three Lions at Wembley.”
England’s coach, Gareth Southgate on his part stated that England’s warm-up games against Nigeria and Costa Rica would be the perfect preparation for the World Cup.
He stressed that the games will set-up his stars for a successful tournament.
In his words: “We’ve mostly played European oppositions . The Brazil game acted as a reminder that we needed to challenge ourselves in different ways as a team.
“We’re going into a World Cup where we will play African and Central American oppositions, so the games against Nigeria and Costa Rica would be good for us.
“But it’s not just about the games we’ve got in the group stages, but hopefully beyond that as well. We want to expose the team to different styles and different experiences.”
England has been drawn in a group with Belgium, Panama and Tunisia at this summer’s finals.
