The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and the Federal Ministry of Power have agreed to strengthen collaboration aimed at accelerating renewable energy development and improving Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
The agreement was reached when the Director-General of ECN, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, led his management team on a strategic visit to the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, Adelabu stressed the need for closer synergy among agencies under the Ministry of Power, noting that effective collaboration remains key to achieving sustainable electricity supply in the country.

He particularly called for stronger partnerships in hydroelectric power generation and other critical energy projects.
Dr Abdullahi commended the minister for his leadership and commitment to inter-agency cooperation, describing the engagement as timely and strategic. He outlined ECN’s mandate and ongoing initiatives, including the Renewed Hope Solarisation Programme, the National Energy Master Plan, and the National Energy Policy, assuring the ministry of ECN’s readiness to work with relevant agencies to deliver practical energy solutions.
The meeting, which had in attendance the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, directors from the ministry, and officials of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, ended with a shared resolve to deepen collaboration and sustain engagements towards transforming Nigeria’s energy sector and driving national development.
