Energia targets sector competitiveness with new graduate trainee programme

Energia Limited has introduced a Graduate Trainee Programme aimed at strengthening technical capacity and improving the long-term competitiveness of Nigeria’s energy sector. The initiative is designed to equip young professionals with practical exposure across core operational and business units at a time the industry is facing a widening skills gap and increasing pressure to adapt to evolving energy demands.

Chief Operating Officer (COO), Energia Limited, Oladimeji Bashorun, said the programme reflects the organisation’s focus on developing competent hands for critical industry roles. “At Energia, we recognise that the future of our industry lies in the hands of today’s young professionals. This programme is our way of investing in Nigeria’s brightest minds, equipping them with practical skills, exposure, and the confidence to thrive in a fast-evolving energy landscape,” Bashorun said.

The General Manager, HR & Corporate Services, Tope Daramola, noted that the initiative is structured to enhance career readiness for graduates entering the oil and gas workspace. “Our goal is to provide young Nigerians with more than just work experience, we are offering a launchpad for meaningful careers. Through mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning, our trainees will develop the competence and values that define Energia’s culture of excellence and innovation,” he said.

Daramola stated that the programme is open to applicants with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper degree in disciplines such as Engineering, Geosciences, Business and Finance, or a Second-Class Lower with a Master’s distinction, and who completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2023 or later. “By offering structured field and office exposure, the scheme is expected to contribute to building a stronger pipeline of skilled professionals for Nigeria’s energy industry.”
