Lagos state government has assured young entrepreneurs in the state of creating friendly business environment to enable them soar in their economic endeavours and boost the State economy.

The Special Adviser to the State governor on media and publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, gave this assurance in Lagos during Empower Lagos Summit (ELS’24); themed: Mastering the Art of Business Structuring and Profitability.

According to him, Lagos would keep offering a wealth of opportunities for business owners and startups, making it an ideal location for entrepreneurial ventures.

“The state government is deliberately focused on nurturing and supporting startups, creating a conducive environment for innovation and growth”

Akosile said it’s important to dispel any mistrust or misconceptions about needing personal connections to take advantage of these opportunities.

He said, “In Lagos State, you do not need to know anyone personally to benefit from the resources and support available for businesses. The state’s commitment to fostering a thriving startup ecosystem is genuine and inclusive, providing equal access to initiatives, funding, and programs designed to help businesses succeed.

“Embrace the opportunities Lagos State has to offer, and trust in the support structures in place to help you grow and thrive in your entrepreneurial journey.

Meanwhile, the Founder, Next Big Deal Hub, Bukola Jaiyeola, at the summit expressed commitment and dedication towards developing and strategically executing programs aimed at enhancing the sustainable economic recovery of the country by supporting young entrepreneurs in different sectors.

Jaiyeola pointed out that the program stands as a testament to its collective commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, driving economic growth, and creating opportunities that empower individuals and communities.

“Together, we envision a Lagos where innovation thrives, where every dream finds wings to soar, and where every individual is equipped to realize their fullest potential.

“As we embark on this journey together, let us embrace the spirit of collaboration, seize the opportunities that lie ahead, and chart a course towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

“Together, we have the power to drive positive change, to build bridges of opportunity, and to shape a tomorrow that is truly worthy of our aspirations,” Jaiyeola stated.

On his part, High Chief Chikezie Nwosu (Aare Bobaseye of Owu Kingdom), representing Oba Saka Matemilola, Olowu of Owu Land, in a keynote address pointed that out the risk aspect of entrepreneurship and ability to take calculated risks.

“Being a relic, isn’t about age, it’s when you stop learning, thinking and innovating. Everyone has a capacity to build the only thing that distinguishes you from Dangote, otedola and the likes.
“If you fail in life, you learn more from failing than succeeding as there are four quotients important in life such as; Intelligent quotient which has to do with trusting that you are smart enough, people who have made it in life do not necessarily have first class, so if you don’t have it do not let it be a limitation for you in life.

“Also emotional quotient which has to do with how you relate with people, having sincere empathy and love for people. That empathy is why people will go to war for you, as you meet and build people, you will need emotional stability so that people can see you as a leader they can go to war with.

“In addition, social networking is crucial in building a business, meet and people engage,” he added.

The session saw various industry experts providing insights and opportunities for SMEs, aspiring entrepreneurs and businesses that do not have any form of support, mentorship, grants, information about government policies, innovation and creativity.
