Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said late Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello was a distinguished statesman and custodian of tradition.
The monarch died aged 71 in Abuja on Friday after a protracted illness.
In a condolence message he personally signed, Atiku said, “I received the news of the passing of His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau, with deep sorrow. A distinguished statesman and a custodian of tradition, his reign was characterized by wisdom, integrity, and a strong commitment to peace and development.
“His passing is a significant loss to both Zamfara State and the nation as a whole. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Gusau Emirate, his family, and the good people of Zamfara.
“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
