Hollywood Personality Of The Year
Emeka Rollas Ejezie rose to become the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), through interplay of hard work, resourcefulness and divine favour.
Those who know him better attest that if he had not become an actor and a leading light in Nollywood, he would have probably been occupying a high position in the orders of clergy in the Catholic Church, having earlier enrolled in a seminary – Holy Ghost Juniorate – in the 1970s to become a priest.
Since he launched his career as a movie personality upon graduation from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in 1993, Emeka Rollas has featured in over 100 movies.
In the years following his joining the Actor Guild of Nigeria in Onitsha over 25 years ago, when it was Nigeria Actors Guild, and later rose to the Vice Chairmanship position, he was prominent in various peace efforts to save the body from disintegration.
In addition to being a Nollywood star, he is the CEO of Rolling Pictures Ltd. and Booben Rolling Pictures Uganda Ltd., movie production companies that also offer Public Relations and advertising consultancy.
Apart from organising events on the sidelines of the United Nations conferences, he has presented papers at many UN fora, including the General Assembly. In 2022, Emeka Rollas’ contributions to the development of the movie industry in Nigeria earned him a national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), just as he was in 2023 awarded a doctorate degree Honoris Causa by Paul University, Awka.
As a producer, director, and strategist, his foresight in establishing Rolling Pictures and Booben Rolling Pictures, positioned him as a pioneering in African cinema, helping to bridge the gap between traditional storytelling and contemporary media. The success story of his tenure as the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria lies in the fact that Nollywood movies hit N3.5 billion in box office revenue in 2024.
Being a member of the International Federation of Actors (FIA), Emeka Rollas has travelled far and wide in the global movie industry. He is a winner of The Sun Nollywood Personality of the Year.
