The Navy Sailing Club, Ojo, has a new set of executives following elections held at its 2026 Annual General Meeting at the Rock View Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.
Lt. Cdr. Emmanuel Emeana was elected the new Club Commodore, polling 68 out of 73 votes cast. Stephen Krapeh emerged as Vice Commodore with 69 votes, while Emeka Nwankwo was elected Rear Commodore with 67 votes.
In other results, Ukhun Ehidiamen Anthony scored 72 out of 73 votes to become General Secretary, and Emmanuel Izilien was elected Sailing Secretary after polling all 73 votes cast. Elizabeth Aladi Onyeogu scored 69 votes for the position of Membership Secretary, while Nelson Edohere polled 64 votes to emerge as Treasurer. Blessing Nwosu-Ukaegbu scored 72 out of 73 votes for Social Secretary/PRO, Odogwu Zachauss scored 65 votes for Works Secretary, and Uhumuma Osas Vivian scored 54 votes to become the club’s Provost.
The election was conducted by a three-man committee led by Femi Osinubi, with Fidelis Ehimatie and Alhaji Wahab Yusuf as members.

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, the Club Commodore said the team would work to keep the Club true to its core values as Nigeria’s foremost sailing club, while promoting watersports among naval officers and men, as well as civilians.
“We don’t know it all, but we will do our best to keep the core values of the Navy Sailing Club,” he said. He thanked the outgoing executive led by Captain Festus Adewuyi and past Club Commodores, including Citizen Giwa Daramola, Captain F.K. Daramola, Chief S.O.D Mayaki and Commodore Mutairu Braimah.
The outgoing Club Commodore described the past year as eventful and challenging, but said he was grateful to have seen it through. He advised the incoming executives to focus on the Club’s real purpose. “Navy Sailing Club is not only for members to come and sit down to drink and enjoy themselves,” he said, adding that there was a need to encourage more sailors into the water and to prepare athletes for future competitions, including the Olympics. He offered to remain available to guide the new team.
The Special Guest of Honour, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Ele-Ojo Shehu, urged the Club to keep developing athletes for itself and for Nigeria. He called on the incoming executives to widen membership and create more awareness among newly recruited naval personnel, many of whom are unaware the Club is open to them. He also urged a stronger push for sponsorship, especially for acquiring and maintaining boats. He said he would consider joining the Club himself depending on his next appointment, and pledged to sponsor a race at the Club before the end of the third quarter of the year.
