Election countdown: Railway suspends operations nationwide

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has joined other government establishments in suspending activities to allow their staff to vote in the general elections on Saturday, February 25.

Deputy Director, Public Relations of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Mr Yakubu Mahmood, in a press release made available to Daily Sun, stated that the suspension of operations is in view of the forthcoming general elections.

The statement reads: “The Board and management of Nigerian Railway Corporation(NRC), hereby inform the general public, particularly our valued passengers of the temporary suspension of train services from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th February 2023, to enable Nigerians exercise their civic responsibilities.

“These train services include; Abuja – Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), Warri – Itakpe Train Service (WITS), Lagos – Ibadan Train Service (LITS), and Iddo Lagos – Ijoko interstate Mass Transit passengers’ train services.

“The management further assures the general public of the normal train services recommencement immediately after the elections.
