Tributes poured in from across Nigeria’s political, religious and social landscape on Saturday as prominent leaders, associates, family members and admirers celebrated the Birthday of Elder Chief Mrs. Eunice Uzor Kalu, fondly known as Odi Uko Na Mba, with many describing her as a symbol of compassion, resilience, philanthropy and exemplary motherhood as she turned a year older on Saturday.
The matriarch of the Kalu family, who is the Founder and President of Reality Organization Worldwide and mother of former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, was honoured for her decades of humanitarian service, community development, women empowerment and unwavering commitment to God and humanity.
Among those who paid glowing tributes via their goodwill messages on Saturday were Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, Senate Deputy Leader Senator Oyelola Ashiru, former House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbo, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Publisher of The Sun Newspapers and Board Chairman, Neya Kalu, Reality Organization Worldwide, Rev. (Mrs.) Jemaimah Ola Kalu, alongside numerous friends, political associates and well-wishers.
Leading the tributes, Senator representing Cross River North, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, prayed for God’s continued protection and long life for the celebrated matriarch.
He said:
“On behalf of my family, I wish the Mother of Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Elder Chief (Mrs) Eunice Uzor Kalu, a happy birthday celebration. May God continue to keep you in good health, peace of mind and prosperity. May the Almighty also grant you long life, to see your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren excel in their respective endeavors, so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.”
Similarly, the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, congratulated Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the entire Kalu family on the joyous occasion, praying for continued divine blessings upon the celebrant.
Ashiru stated:
“Your Excellency, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, please accept my warmest congratulations as your beloved mother celebrates her 79th birthday today.
“I pray that Almighty God continues to bless her with good health, strength, peace, and many more years filled with joy and fulfillment. May her life remain a source of inspiration, and may she continue to witness greater accomplishments and blessings in the lives of her children and generations to come.
“Happy 79th Birthday, Ma, and congratulations to your entire family.”
Former lawmaker representing Bekwarra/Obudu/Obanliku Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbo, described Elder Chief Mrs. Kalu’s life as a shining example worthy of emulation.
According to him:
“On behalf of my dear family and the good constituents of Obudu, Bekwarra and Obanliku Federal Constituency, I felicitate and congratulate Elder Chief Mrs. Eunice Uzor Kalu on her birthday.
“I celebrate with the mother of the former Governor of Abia State and incumbent Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu.
“Her resilience, industry, and remarkable life dedicated to the service of God and humanity is worth emulation.
“Her significant contributions as the matriarch of the Kalu family to the development of her community, Abia and the nation deserve commendation.
“I pray for good health and more achievements.”
In an emotional birthday message, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu described his mother as the pillar upon which the family has stood, attributing much of his life’s values and accomplishments to her sacrifices, prayers and unwavering support.
He wrote:
“Happy Birthday to my beloved mother, Elder Mrs. Eunice Uzor Kalu, Odi Uko na Mba.
“Today, my heart is filled with gratitude to Almighty God for the precious gift of your life. You have been a pillar of strength, a woman of deep faith, uncommon wisdom, and boundless love. Your sacrifices, prayers, and support have shaped our family and continue to inspire us every day.
“As you celebrate another year of God’s abundant grace, I pray that the Almighty blesses you with continued good health, peace, joy, and many more fruitful years.
“Thank you for being an exceptional mother and a shining example of humility, compassion, and service.
“Happy Birthday once again, Odi Uko na Mba. We celebrate you today and always.”
Adding the voice of a new generation, Neya Kalu, Publisher and Chairman, Board of Directors of The Sun Publishing Limited, extolled her grandmother’s enduring legacy of compassion and nation-building.
She said:
“Today I celebrate my dear grandmother and mother to my dear father. All throughout her life she has continued to guide us through the right path of life, just like she guided my father.
“My dear grandmother has evolved from being not just a mother to our family but to the entire state and the nation through her benevolence which we have emulated in many ways.
“She has shown a tireless devotion to humanitarian works, unwavering commitment to the upliftment of women, youth and the less privileged.
“Her passion for building a more inclusive society continues to inspire millions across the nation.
“She has shown, through both words and actions, that true leadership is measured not by position, but by the lives touched and transformed.
“I pray for her continued good health as she marks this milestone birthday.”
The Chairman of Reality Organization Worldwide, Barr. Peter Ndukwe, also led members of the organization in celebrating their Founder and President, describing her as an icon whose influence transcends generations.
In a statement, the organization described Elder Chief Mrs. Kalu as “a shining example of compassion, visionary leadership, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to humanity.”
The statement further read:

Also celebrating the revered matriarch, Rev. (Mrs.) Jemaimah Ola Kalu, PhD, described her as the “Diamond Mother-General.”
Her goodwill message read:
