EKSU team emerges 1st in national Young Engineering competition

A team of young engineers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has emerged first in the  National Young Engineers Innovation Competition, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

The team, compris Kehinde Abiodun (Team Lead), Oluwapelumi Ajayi, Mercy Owoyomi and Ayomide Ologuntoye, won with the project titled, ‘Design and Implementation of a Solar-Powered Smart Walking Stick for Visually Impaired Persons’.

The award was presented by President and Chairman in Council of the NSE, Margaret Aina Oguntala, at the opening ceremony of the 2025 International Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

The team is grateful to the Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele, the Dean of Engineering, EKSU, Prof. I. B. Oluwafemi and the HOD, Computer Engineering Department, EKSU, Dr. A. I. Fasiku for the excellent leadership and support that create and sustain the enabling environment for the laudable feat.
