Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), have endorsed the initiative of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to back a consensus candidate ahead of the Ekiti local government polls.

Speaking on behalf of the council, Chief Esan and Supo Ajayi who spoke on behalf of the council, during a stakeholder meeting in Ipoti Ekiti, the headquarters of the Irede Local Government Development Area, said the agreement would prevent internal wrangling, among the candidates.

Esan said the meeting produced Asekun Sunday, popularly known as Papa, as the consensus candidate for the chairmanship of Irede Local Government in line with the zoning formula agreed and adopted in the Area Council that favoured Ward B in Ipoti as directed by the party leadership at state level.

According to him, the chairman of the Consensus committee, lauded the candidate and commended the APC leadership in the Area Council and in Ward B in particular for their exemplary work, peaceful disposition and expressed his endorsement of their decisions.

“The leadership of the APC in Irede Local Government Development Area expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party and the state Governor, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji – BAO, for this great initiative of consensus candidate, an idea that has fostered peace and recognition of leadership and political processes within the Irede community.

“This event marks a significant achievement for the BAO-led government and underscores the seriousness of BAO’s intentions. It is evident that the party is re-establishing its leadership in the state,” he said.
