Ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation, representing the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that it has carefully reviewed recent political developments within the party at both the national and state levels and deemed it necessary to provide clear direction to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters across the state.

The campaign organisation disclosed this in a statement by its press secretary, Idowu Adelusi, on Thursday.

The statement read, “Following engagements with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, one fact remains incontrovertible: the PDP is firmly committed to the candidacy of Wole Oluyede and to the strategic objective of winning the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State.

“The assurances received reaffirm the party’s institutional position and further strengthen the growing momentum across the state.”

Continuing, the statement said, “The organisation acknowledges the evolving dynamics within the party’s national leadership and appreciates the contributions of key actors and blocs who have, at various stages, supported this aspiration. These contributions remain invaluable and form part of the broader foundation upon which the campaign continues to build.

“At the state level, the organisation recognises concerns among stakeholders, particularly across established leadership tendencies. It is important to state unequivocally that this campaign is not aligned with any faction but is anchored on the collective mandate of the PDP and its members.

“Accordingly, the Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi-led structure, the Hon. Lanre Omolase-led stakeholders, and other critical leaders across Ekiti State remain central to the campaign’s success. Their roles are not peripheral; they are fundamental to consolidating the party’s grassroots strength and strategic coordination.

“Dr Oluyede has continued, and will intensify, high-level consultations aimed at fostering alignment, strengthening coordination, and ensuring equitable inclusion within the campaign framework. No legitimate structure will be sidelined, and no genuine contribution will be ignored.

“However, the campaign organisation emphasises that this critical moment demands discipline, restraint, and political maturity. Public posturing, parallel engagements, or actions capable of projecting division only weaken the collective strength of the party at a decisive time.

“The directive from the national leadership is clear: the PDP must approach the Ekiti governorship election as a united and cohesive political force. This position is non-negotiable and aligns squarely with the overarching goal of electoral victory.

“Dr Oluyede’s focus remains clear and unwavering: to unify the PDP, consolidate its structures, and lead a disciplined, inclusive, and result-oriented campaign capable of securing victory at the polls.

“The campaign organisation therefore, calls on all leaders and stakeholders to align with this direction, close ranks where necessary, and channel all energies toward the shared objective.

“The path to victory lies not in fragmentation, but in unity and coordinated strength.

“The PDP in Ekiti possesses the structure, leadership depth, and public goodwill required to win. What is required now is cohesion.”
