Ekiti APC petitions NWC to disqualify Fasuyi from participating in primary

APC-2-1

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

Chances of Cyril Fasuyi, the senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, returning to the upper legislative chambers, look very bleak following a petition from the party’s chapter in his senatorial district to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging it to disqualify him from participating in the party’s primary.

The district equally resolved to do everything within their powers including mobilising against him during the primary election, to stop his re-election.

In a petition signed by Afuye Idowu, on behalf of the senatorial district, dated May 2, the constituency hinged their appeal on poor, lacklustre performance, violation of fundamental rights, and instigation of arrest and detention in prison of the petitioner based on false allegations. “This petition against Cyril Fasuyi, the senator representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, currently an aspirant, is based on my strong conviction that an assessment of Senator Fasuyi’s present term of office clearly indicates that he is antithetical to the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the ideology of the All Progressives Congress.

“In the almost three years that Fasuyi has been a member of the senate, he has not personally sponsored any landmark legislation/bill that will benefit the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District, Ekiti State or Nigeria as a whole. He is not reported to have moved any serious motion or made any significant contributions to debates on the floor of the Senate, which implies that the people of Ekiti North District do not have a voice of representation in the Senate,” the petition reads partly.
