Eid-el-Fitri: FRSC deploys 1889 personnel for special patrol operations in Kano

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command has deployed 1,889 personnel and operational logistics for the 2026 Eid-el-Fitri Special Patrol Operations scheduled to hold from 17 to 22 March 2026 to ensure safe and smooth travels during the Sallah celebration.

The Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, disclosed that the special patrol was aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries while ensuring the free flow of traffic across major highways and roads in the state.

According to him, the deployment comprised 1,348 Regular Marshals and 541 Special Marshals, who will maintain 24-hour patrol operations across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.

The operation will be supported by 5 ambulances, a heavy-duty tow truck, and 25 patrol vehicles to guarantee prompt rescue services and quick clearance of road obstructions.

He noted that the Corps will focus enforcement on critical traffic offences including speeding, dangerous overtaking, lane indiscipline, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, seat-belt violations, tyre offences, road obstruction and operation of mechanically deficient vehicles.

The Sector Commander added that the Command wiould work closely with other security and emergency response agencies such as the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, Federal Fire Service, FERMA and KAROTA to ensure effective traffic management and prompt response to emergencies.
