Egesionu becomes president of Ikate Rotary club

The Rotary International Club of Ikate, District 9110, has installed Ugochukwu Egesionu as the president of 2022-2023 of Imagine Rotary Year of the club. The event, which was held at Lagos Country Club, coincided with the induction of the club’s new board members and award to notable Nigerians.

In his opening speech, Ugochukwu, the 36th president of the club, pointed out that Rotary only provides different avenues where members and friends of Rotary contribute their quota to support humanity for a more impactful magnitude.

The new president enumerated the achievements of the club in the areas of humanity for the past 36 years, which include: giving scholarships to less privileged children, adopting schools they sponsor in the areas of facilities provision, supporting indigent market women, provision of public facilities like waste bins and safe water etc, visited and provided some basic needs to some motherless babies homes, special children and old people’s homes.

He further explained that despite all these, no humanitarian services are enough because the world continuously throws up challenges, which require only humans to solve.

He therefore enumerated various projects that the club would want to embark on this 2022 – 2023 Rotary year. He pleads with the audience,  friends of Rotary and Rotarians for their support to aid drive the initiatives of this rotary year.

The club also awarded some individuals in recognition of their excellence in their various fields of endeavour and their kind gesture to humanity.

The guest speaker is Prof. Joy Ada Onyesoh, the convener of SHE SPEAKS and CEO of Power woman digital magazine.
