More accolades are pouring in for newly crowned world 100 meters hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan, as Nigeria’s first ever Track and Field Olympic medalist Innocent Ejima Egbunike, has praised the fantastic feat Amusan achieved at the just concluded World Athletics Champion in Oregon, US.
Amusan stormed to a historic victory in the 100m women hurdles finals breaking the world record in 12.06s to become the first Nigerian and African to win hurdles gold ever.
In celebration of Amusan, Egbunike, an African and Nigerian record breaker in the 400m, said he is blessed to witness the 25-year -old achieve what no other Nigerian has done.
“Congratulations to our new world record holder Tobi Amusan. Way to give God all the glory!!!
“I am blessed to see you do what no other Nigerian has done. You are simply the best amongst the rest. Pray the Good Lord continues to shine His face upon you as HE takes you to greater heights. You are blessed!!!, Egbunike wrote on his Facebook wall.
Egbunike gave Nigeria her first track Olympic medal running a fantastic anchor leg in the men’s 4x400m to give the country a Bronze medal behind the US and Great Britain at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
In 1987,he broke the African and Nigerian 400m record twice.
