The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) on Sunday strongly condemned the midnight invasion of its premises by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The anti-grant action was described as an assault on fundamental rights and corporate dignity.
Managing Director, OOPL , Mr. Vitalis Ortese, in a statement said the operation, allegedly led by an officer identified as “Olapade,” took place around 2 a.m. during a private event within the complex.
According to him, the EFCC operatives fired sporadically, triggering panic and chaos that left several guests injured while fleeing for safety.
Ortese noted that the organisers of the event had police officers stationed at the venue, along with additional personnel from the Kemta Police Station, Abeokuta, yet none were informed of any planned EFCC operation.

He alleged that the operatives failed to present a warrant and, when confronted by OOPL security and police personnel, simply replied, “We are doing our job.”
The management argued that the raid was unwarranted as the event had been publicly advertised days before.
The OOPL has demanded a full explanation and an unreserved apology from the EFCC to both the management and the injured guests, threatening to seek legal redress and sanctions if the demands were re not met.
Earlier, the EFCC in a statement through its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed a sting operation by the anti-grant operatives.
To him, 93 suspected internet fraudsters were arrested in Abeokuta, though h did not mention OOPL.
