The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recorded significant milestones in its anti-graft war, securing the conviction of a fake spiritualist and arraigning a former Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) for alleged fraud.
In Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar of the State High Court convicted and sentenced Odeyemi Hammed Oluwaseun, a 23-year-old fake spiritualist, to a one-year suspended jail term for internet fraud.
Oluwaseun posed as an American-based female spiritualist, defrauding his victims of thousands of dollars.

In a separate development, the EFCC arraigned former Acting AGF, Anamekwe Nnabuoku, before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a nine-count charge of alleged multiple financial fraud totalling N1.96 billion.
Nnabuoku pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N500 million with two sureties in like sum.
The EFCC’s prosecution counsel, Martha Babatunde, requested a trial date, which was set for January 31, 2025.
The commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the developments in separate press statements on Thursday.
