Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede, has charged law enforcement agencies worldwide to close ranks in the fight against cross-border economic crimes, warning that no nation is immune from the threat.
Olukoyede, represented by EFCC’s Director of Legal and Prosecution, Sylvanus Tahir, SAN, spoke on Tuesday, September 2, at Jesus College, Cambridge, during the 42nd International Symposium on Economic Crimes.
He said criminal syndicates exploit weak regulatory frameworks, advances in digital technology, and gaps in international cooperation to defraud victims and launder illicit funds across multiple jurisdictions.

“Collaboration is the only way the world can harness its resources to deal with cross-border economic crimes, as no nation is spared,” he said.
The EFCC boss cited the Commission’s successful joint operations with the FBI, Interpol, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as proof that cooperation delivers results.
The Cambridge Symposium, which has convened global stakeholders on economic crimes for over four decades, runs from September 1 to 8.
