Evanna Empowerment Initiative (EEI) has concluded a two-day nationwide drive, distributing essential baking materials to over 100 bakers across Lagos, Owerri, Abuja, and Abeokuta.
Participants received critical baking supplies, including margarine, cake icing, and sugar, to directly support their businesses. The initiative reflects EEI’s commitment to providing practical, hands-on resources to small-enterprise owners and artisans already working in the field.
Founder and Executive Director of Evanna Empowerment Initiative, Grace Ilesanmi, described the drive as both a practical investment in the bakers’ futures and a personal reflection of her own journey into the industry.
“Baking is what brought me here, but teaching others to bake is what keeps me here. When we put real materials directly into a baker’s hands, we are investing in a skill they will carry for the rest of their working lives,” Ilesanmi said.
She said EEI offers free baking and confectionery classes annually from February through October, open to anyone aged 15 and older. “In October, the initiative will welcome its newest cohort for hands-on training covering bread making, pastries, small chops, and general baking skills, “ she said.
In addition to the training programs, Ilesanmi said she will host the Ogba Bakers Connect—a meet-and-greet event designed to unite bakers from across Lagos with established industry leaders to share practical business and culinary insights.
