The Institute of Educational Leadership Practitioners of Nigeria (IELPN) Holds 3- Day Conference with the theme : leading Education in an Al driven World for Skills, Employability,Ethics , Sustainability.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday at Imo State University,Owerri ,Dr Taiwo Olufumilayo Olusa, Registrar and Chief Executive of the Institute disclosed that the conference scheduled to hold between 11- 14 August at the Imo state university, Owerri , Imo state capital.
She said, ” The choice of this theme is deliberate and timely. Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant technological development .it is already changing how our students learn,how our teachers teach , how research is conducted, how institutions make decisions and increasingly, how employers define the knowledge and competencies they require.
However, Dr Taiwo said that the conference will be examining the readiness of the country’s educational system to provide the leadership,policies, skills ethical safeguards and institutional required to ensure that Artificial intelligence improves education and expands opportunity rather than creating new forms of inequality.
“This is why the conference deliberately brings together skills development, employability, ethics,Inclusion and sustainability within a single educational leadership conversation.
Our discussions will be organised around eight strategic areas: AI-driven educational leadership and policy reform; innovation ecosystems, skills development and employability pathways; digital governance, ethics and accountability; sustainability and climate responsive education systems; global educational leadership and cross-border collaboration; institutional resilience and change management; data-driven decision-making and evidence-based leadership; and equity, inclusion and responsible technology integration.
The conference will bring together Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Deans and other educational leaders alongside regulators ,policymakers, researchers ,academic , technology innovators ,development , private – sectors stakeholders and emerging scholars “.
She thanked the conference planning committee and the Vice Chancellor of Imo state University ,Owerri Prof Uchefula Chukwumaeze ( SAN) for hosting the international gathering .
Also, Prof B. I Nnodum , Dean Faculty of Education of Imo state is University said all the necessary logistics for the successful hosting of the international conference by the faculty of Education. She also urged all members of the Academic staff to attend the international conference to keep themselves abreast of with the Al technology which now in vogue .
