The participants after the training. The Edo State Government has commenced a Train-the-Trainer Programme designed to equip vocational and technical teachers with modern skills, digital technologies, and innovative teaching methods.
Organised by the state Ministry of Education under the leadership of the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Washington Osifo, the initiative seeks to enhance teachers’ capacity and better prepare them for the evolving demands of education in the digital age.
Representing Governor Monday Okpebholo at the programme, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Musa Yakubu, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and professional development among teachers, noting that ongoing training is essential to improving the quality of education.
The training focuses on industry-relevant technical skills, digital technologies, competency-based teaching methods, and emerging innovations, including artificial intelligence, to improve teaching and learning across the state.
Participants are being introduced to digital tools and practical techniques designed to make classroom teaching more engaging and effective while helping students develop skills relevant to the modern economy.
The government said the initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening the education system by investing in teachers’ knowledge and professional capacity, alongside school infrastructure.
It said vocational and technical teachers were being prioritised because of their role in equipping students with practical, digital, and technical skills needed to compete in today’s economy.
The government said the programme is part of the administration’s broader effort to build an innovative, technology-driven and skills-focused education system responsive to the needs of 21st-century learners.
