The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, held a roundtable meeting with the coaching staff and management of Bendel Insurance FC to strategize on enhancing the team’s performance in the ongoing season.

The meeting provided an open platform for dialogue, allowing coaches and management to share insights on the team’s progress, challenges, and areas for improvement. Hon. Enabulele emphasised the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving the club’s goals and reinforcing its standing in the Nigerian Premier Football League.

“My priority is to build a strong Bendel Insurance FC, as the Governor is keen on improving the team’s performance by providing the necessary resources and creating an enabling environment.

“Our objective is to bring glory to the state and, in return, boost internally generated revenue (IGR) through Bendel Insurance FC. Since the state government is making significant investments in the team, it is imperative that we reciprocate by finishing at the top of the league,” he said.

Enabulele, while reflecting on recent performances of the club, remarked, “Governor Monday Okpebholo is passionate about sports, and we must encourage him with victories. We should have won our last away match against Bayelsa United, but the result was disappointing. The team must strive to secure victories, particularly in our upcoming home game against Remo Stars.”

He acknowledged past achievements of the club and stressed the need to pursue new goals, saying, “While we have surpassed our initial targets, our next focus is securing a top-four finish to qualify for continental football. We must also ensure a structured transition of players from our academy to the senior team, which will enhance morale across our feeder teams.”

Enabulele maintained a firm stance on performance expectations, stating, “I am a results-oriented person. It will not be business as usual—those who underperform will be relieved of their duties.”

He commended Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba for his dedication, stressing the importance of proper documentation for players and recruitment, enhanced technical depth, and improved teamwork within the coaching and management team of Bendel Insurance FC.

In response, Chief Coach Ikhenoba expressed confidence in the team’s progress, stating, “We have successfully met our initial mandate, and our focus is now on elevating our performance to gain continental recognition. I appreciate the Executive Chairman for his unwavering support.”

Veteran coach and Technical Adviser, Mr Alabi Aisien, also shared valuable insights, referencing Bendel Insurance FC’s historical successes on the continental stage.

Hon. Enabulele urged the management to prioritise talent development and scouting, highlighting the need to nurture young players who will contribute to the club’s long-term success. “Investing in grassroots talent is crucial for the sustainability of our football programmes,” he noted.

The meeting was attended by key figures from the club’s management, coaching staff, and technical team, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
