Edo Sports Commission backs Benin Club Ladies Golf Championship

The Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele has promised that his Commission will support Benin Club Ladies Golf session as they prepare for their annual Golf Championship in Benin.

‎The Edo State Sports Commission boss made the commitment when he received Lady Captain (Mrs) Stella Ajayi led Benin Club lady Golfers  (BCGS) who paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday in Benin City.

‎He assured that his Commission would support and work closely with the organisers of the golf championship to ensure a hitch free and successful championship.

‎Hon. Enabulele commended the Lady Golfers for their initiative and for deeming it necessary to inform his Commission about their activities, and as well to seek collaboration.

“We will work closely with you people to ensure the success of the championship,” Enabulele affirmed.

‎Earlier in her address, the leader of the delegation Lady Captain, Mrs. Stella Ajayi, explained that the purpose of their visit was to formally inform the Sports Commission Chairman about the upcoming golf tournament holding in Benin and to intimate him with their programmes.

‎She highlighted the significance of the golf championship to include encouraging women, young and advanced to embrace golf, and to solicit for financial support.

‎Lady captain Ajayi revealed that the championship, scheduled to hold between October 9–12, 2025, is not only a competition but also an avenue to foster unity, build partnerships, and provide women golfers with a platform to showcase their skills.

‎Also speaking, the wife of former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mrs Maryann Phillip-Shaibu, further highlighted the benefits of the annual golf tournament to include raising awareness and grooming future golf champions.

‎Mrs Shaibu stated enthusiastically that the competition attracts golfers from across Nigeria and beyond, and therefore called for a stronger partnership with the Edo State Sports Commission

‎Present at the meeting was Mrs. Sabrina Chikere, Executive Director, Sports Development and Operations, Edo State Sports Commission and other members of the delegation including Mrs. Joy Omorogiuwa, Mrs. Betty Oriakhi, Mrs. Edeki Edith, Mrs. Ehinomwen Igbinadolor, and Mrs. Nora Ucheagwu.
