Residents of Akho-Okpame in Esan Central and Ogbona in Etsako Central Local Government Areas of Edo State have expressed commendation for the recent road construction projects, noting that the upgrades will significantly boost local trade and mobility.
Local residents, including Mrs. Melody Ediale and Mrs. Okoduwa Doris, explained that the massive transformation had turned their communities into attractive hubs. In Ogbona, resident Loveth Ekhasemome praised the governor for ensuring equitable infrastructure distribution, noting it was the first major road intervention in the area in years.
Providing a technical update, Engr. John Odjirigho, Project Manager for Fenix Engineering Construction Ltd, stated that the 7.67-kilometre Ikabigbo-Ekperi Road project was progressing steadily. Since mobilising to the site after the contract was awarded on January 27, 2026, the company had cleared the entire path, completed 70 percent of concrete drains, and built three out of eight culverts.

The team is currently managing rainy season challenges and aims to lay 1.5 kilometres of asphalt by mid-August.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr. John Obanor, commended the contractors’ work quality following an inspection tour across the Edo North and Central senatorial districts. The Ministry confirmed that several critical roads had been successfully completed, with more nearing completion as weather conditions permit.
